This was an experiment of sorts, that came to fruition after finding an LED flower branch at a craft store.

This image, of Lower Yosemite Falls, was taken during my first visit to Yosemite, back in 2012, with a large group of Google+ photographers.
Tonight, I'm heading back to Yosemite National Park for the fourth or fifth time. I'm looking forward to getting outside, back in nature this weekend. It is also fantastic that it is almost a full moon, there's fresh snow in the valley and it's also 'Firefall' weekend.

During a trip to Yosemite last year, I was walking back to the car from a hike and across the meadow I saw a deer. I switched lenses quickly in the meadow and to my surprise the buck, a female deer and two fawns continued to walk closer towards me, seemingly unafraid.

If I’m not shooting historic, abandoned locations, you can find me camping and enjoying nature.

Back in June I took a last minute trip to Yosemite National Park and the Mammoth Lakes for some full moon goodness with another night photographer.
When we arrived in the park around 11pm, we drove up to Tioga Pass, with the intentions of driving until we saw something awesome we wanted to shoot. The advantage of the Super full moon was that it was bright enough to see our surroundings.
This was my first time up at Olmstead Point and it was so beautiful and peaceful.

Last Saturday, I made an impromptu visit to Yosemite in search of some new fallen snow, which never quite made it down to the valley, but the mountain tops were beautifully capped, which was good enough for me. It felt so amazing to be back in nature. I definitely need to do this more often.

Prior to the February Yosemite trip, I purchased an LED lantern with (4) removable, battery powered panels. Not only is the lantern great for camping, but the panels are small, light weight and can be individually carried around and used for light painting.
This was my first shot testing out their functionality. A ladder would have been helpful when painting the higher branches of the tree, but this was essentially the effect I was aiming for. I am anxious to continue testing and improving this method.
